Emily grew up in Sussex where her family kept chickens, horses and a small flock of Poll Dorset sheep. This is where her love for animals really began. Emily then spent six years studying in Slovakia at the University of Veterinary and Pharmacy in Kosice. After graduating she moved to West Dorset and worked in mixed practice. Emily then worked in various different practices in the West Country gaining invaluable experience as a Locum Vet.
Emily is currently completing the Advanced Practitioners Certificate in small animal surgery and she has a special interest in soft tissue surgery. When not in theatre she enjoys getting to know her patients and chatting with clients.
In her spare time, you will find Emily busy planting vegetables in her garden, out on the water at Lyme Bay or training her two retrievers Nora and Aggie. Emily is also a keen beekeeper and cares for six hives in an apple orchard located near the practice.
Ellie's love for animals started at a young age. From age six you would find her writing ‘I love Zephie’, her pony, on any available piece of paper, much to her parent's annoyance.
Ellie was raised in Somerset and has always loved the area. After leaving school, she started her career at her local Veterinary practice doing work experience one day a week. She qualified as a registered Veterinary Nurse and then attended the Royal Veterinary College London where she gained her Advanced Veterinary Nursing Certificate. Ellie has also worked in numerous emergency Out of hour clinics this is where she developed her passion for Emergency and Critical care nursing. She enjoys nursing to a high standard, going the extra mile for clients and improving her nursing knowledge.
Recently, she has been working in multiple veterinary practices from specialist referral hospitals to first-opinion clinics in the Channel Islands. When she’s not working, she loves playing in her local cricket team, fishing off the Jurassic coast, and walking her cheeky dog, Tipple.
After completing a Zoology degree, Sophie returned to university and qualified from Cambridge in 2013. Since she has worked in a number of busy small animal first opinion practices in the west country. Sophie has also been fortunate to gain experience from a wide range of animal establishments in the UK and abroad.
Sophie takes a comprehensive approach to veterinary taking the time to get to know the patient, and their owner, and working together for the best outcome for everybody. Sophie has a particular passion for medicine especially of our geriatric patients. Sophie is kept busy with her three young children and her menagerie of animals; in her spare time she runs an animal science school for home educated children from her small holding in Yarcombe.
Fiona began her nursing career (too long ago to mention!) in a small animal clinic in Wales. Over the years, she has worked in first opinion Small Animal, Farm & Equine practices, as well as stints away from general practice within the wider animal sectors. She is a local girl and maybe a familiar face to some of our clients!
She had a love of animals from a young age and it has always been her passion to give the highest level of care to her patients. She enjoys caring for our hospitalized patients, especially those needing high-dependency nursing. She also loves running nurse clinics, maintaining a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness within the practice, and helping our fabulous clients. She also has a particular interest in Senior pet care, animal behaviour, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation.
She shares her world with her husband, two Springer spaniels, a Labrador, a beautiful Spanish horse, and a whole farmyard menagerie. She loves nothing more than spending time with them all.
Out of work, Fiona goes wild swimming and loves being around nature. She and her husband have a shared hobby of being steam engine enthusiasts, going to several vintage vehicle rallies throughout the year. She is a Traditional Sign Painter in her spare time and enjoys being creative. When you come into reception, you can admire her handy work on our wall!
Originally from Ireland, Erica completed her vet degree at James Cook University in the Australian tropics, before moving to the UK and settling in the beautiful Southwest. After a couple of years in mixed practice, she turned her attention to companion animals.
With a strong focus on providing the best quality of care for her patients, Erica enjoys aspects of both soft tissue surgery and medicine. She plans to get stuck into further study shortly, to increase and develop her knowledge and skills further.
Work aside, Erica loves to travel and spend time with her little family, which includes her much-loved rescue cat and bantam chickens.
Sam was born and raised here in the West Country. Sam’s love for animals started at a very early age, as their family home was always full of pets. It was clear this would lead to a career working with them.
Sam started off working in rescue centres then moved into the Veterinary profession where she became a qualified Animal Nursing Assistant. Sam has a passion for meeting and greeting clients but also loves helping the nurses care for the pets. Sam Loves living in Somerset, she feels it’s the perfect location for walking in the countryside or down on the Jurassic coast with her dog Sky. Sam has lots of resuce pets at home to keep her busy, these consist of five cats, four rabbits and four guinea pigs. Outside of the animal world Sam enjoys spending time with friends, family and going to the gym two to three times per week!
Fun Fact: Sam is also a qualified trampoline coach.
Hayley has worked as a Veterinary Receptionist for the last 7 years. Prior to this she worked in the travel industry for 13 years. A week after her GCSE's she started a youth training scheme and qualified with an NVQ level 2 & 3. She became the Assistant Manager of Bath Travel in Bridport.
Outside of work Hayley lives locally with her partner, their two young boys and Tilly the Jack Russell. She loves spending time with her family. Around her busy family life Hayley enjoys baking cakes. She is very excited to be part of the Hamstone Vets venture.
Vicky has been part of the Veterinary profession since 2004 and was previously a qualified and registered Veterinary Nurse. After starting a family Vicky moved over to a reception role. She is passionate about preventative health care for pets.
Outside of work Vicky loves spending time outdoors with her family. She has two young children, a Cat called Maui, and a Rottweiler called Shelby.
Kate has lived in the local area all her life and has always had a love of animals. She qualified with a BTEC National Diploma in Animal Care from Cannington College and has since had a varied career working in a range of animal environments from meerkats and lemurs to horses, dogs, and cats.
Kate has spent 11 years working as a Nutritional Advisor for pet foods, so she is more than happy to answer any food-related queries!
When Kate’s not working she loves to help at a local stables in the beautiful Dorset countryside where she gets to indulge her love of horses. Kate is married with two children and two dogs, Poppy and Ginny. Since joining the practice, she has added to her gang with the addition of a stray kitten called Maggie.
In Kate’s spare time, she enjoys getting out in the fresh air walking her dogs, or helping at Crewkerne Rugby Club with the Junior section. She can be found at the clubhouse on a Sunday morning serving hot drinks to parents and well-earned hot meals to the players after their matches.
